Present Situation | ||
Where are we at the moment? | The Old Boot pub is currently closed. |
|
It has been registered as an Asset of Community Value. |
||
There is a small group of pub enthusiasts from the village who want to preserve the Old Boot in Wellington. |
||
What have we done so far ? |
Obtained advice from the Plunkett Foundation – part of the co-operative movement, a charity founded in 1919, which represents a network of almost 600 rural community cooperatives.
Learned lessons from what others have done – The Boot at Orleton. See https://www.thecommunitybootinn.co.uk/
Formed a Community Benefit Society (CBS) and Registered it with the Financial Conduct Authority. Got the pub valued by an independent qualified pub valuer. Commissioned a survey by an independent qualified surveyor. Produced a Business Plan. Produced a Share Prospectus. Prepared a share offer launch so that the community will own the premises. |

About the Pub | There is a bar area as well as a separate restaurant area and a sizeable kitchen. There are 5 bedrooms upstairs, which need updating but offer potential for family accommodation and / or bed and breakfast. It may need three phase electricity installed. The present toilets are 'inadequate' and ideally new toilets need to provide disabled access and baby changing facilities. The kitchen equipment and extraction services need upgrading. There is a large rear garden and car park. The layout of the pub / restaurant could be improved.
